The Eric Javits range we carry, $235 to $375: fedoras, wide-brim sun hats, visors and a cap. Every one of them is rated UPF 50+, and every one packs flat.
Squishee is Eric Javits' own material, a man-made straw that resembles raffia, made with recycled fibers. It will not crack or splinter with wear and does not melt when wet, which is why these hats can be rolled into a tote and come out keeping their shape. Every style we carry is rated UPF 50+, the highest rating the scale awards, from independent testing to AATCC test methods. At that rating the straw blocks 98% of UVA and UVB rays. The one qualification is the Daphne, whose ventilation weave means small areas of the brim can fall below UPF 50+.
Fedoras, the Squishee Classic ($320) and the broad-brim Daphne ($375), both banded in grosgrain. Sun hats, the Hampton ($285), whose brim you shape yourself. Visors, the Champ ($235) with a 3.5-inch brim span, and the Squishee Halo ($295) with a wraparound brim and an open crown. In between, the Suncrest ($295) is a fedora-visor hybrid, and the Squishee Cap ($290) has a detachable terry pad.
Most styles use an elasticized inner band that fits most heads; the Champ and the Suncrest adjust with a Velcro tab at the back.
